LAN8810-AKZE: Interface - Drivers, Receivers, TransceiversThe LAN8810-AKZE is a 10/100 Ethernet transceiver device that operates in the 2.5 Gbps range for data rates up to 100 Mbps. It is an integrated system-on-chip (SoC) solution that combines advanced signal processing technology with a high performance Ethernet media access controller (MAC). It is designed to meet the demands of customer applications that require Ethernet to be used as a data and control medium over short and long distances, in both wired and wireless networks.The device provides an integrated physical layer (PHY) transceiver which supports the standard 10/100 Base-T, half/full duplex, and auto-negotiation protocols. It also incorporates an analog front-end, twisted pair connector interface, a digital media access controller, clock generator, pin-selectable voltage regulator, and Memory Map I/O interfaces.The primary application for the device is for Ethernet-to-Ethernet bridging and switching, including layer-3 protocol conversions, 3-layer switch fabric, switching between copper and fiber networks, and wireless backhaul solutions. The device is also suitable for applications such as network attached storage (NAS), access controllers, digital video, and gaming.The LAN8810-AKZE incorporates a powerful ARM9 processor that can execute various real-time tasks, including network management functions, packet filtering and switching, MAC address lookup, and link-level traffic control. It supports can handle multiple protocol layers, including Ethernet, IP, UDP, and multicast protocols.The device includes an integrated Ethernet PHY transceiver that supports the 10/100 Base-T protocol and the 802.3x Ethernet frame format. The transceiver has an adjustable power decoupling capacitance, programmable line transmitter amplitude, and automatic link-on/link-off features.The device includes a dual clock generator with a programmable output frequency range up to 200 MHz. It supports a variety of reference clock inputs such as 27 MHz, 26 MHz, 50MHz, and 48 MHz, and offers programmable phase-locked loop (PLL) dividers and USB transceiver support.The LAN8810-AKZE also supports an on-chip phase master clock featuring programmable frequency and phase compensation. It offers an integrated LVDS driver with an eight-bit link quality indication output for improved transmission performance and reduced jitter.Furthermore, the device provides an integrated low-dropout voltage regulator (LDO) which can be configured to support up to 8V of output with a fixed I/O selectable bus voltages of 3.3/2.5. It includes a built-in Brown-Out Detector (BOD) with programmable voltage and current levels.Finally, the device supports three external memory interface ports, including MultiPort Serial Flash (SPI), NAND Flash, and an advanced DRAM controller. It offers up to 8MB of external Serial Flash, up to 256MB of NAND Flash and up to 128MB of DRAM.The LAN8810-AKZE transceiver device is a highly cost-effective solution for the needs of most Ethernet applications. It provides the industry with a strong solution for short- and long-range bridging, switching and wireless backhaul requirements.
