The LAN8742-CZ-TR is an electrically-isolated 10/100Tx Ethernet LAN physical layer transceiver (PHY). It integrates a bank of 8 LEDs and parallel resistor networks for isolating, polarity converting and driving LED, such as orange and green LED modules. The LAN8742-CZ-TR is designed to meet the requirements of the IEEE 802.3u standard for Auto-Negotiation and full/half-duplex operation.

Working Principle
The LAN8742-CZ-TR contains an Ethernet PHY that provides a physical layer of connection between the two Ethernet devices. It offers up to 65dB isolation in the ISO-TX and ISO-RX ports. The integrated 8 LEDs and resistor networks enable indicators such as orange and green LED for indicating the operating status.
In addition, it supports automatic speed negotiation and configurable LED modes for 10/100MbE. During operation, it implements data flow between the media access controller (MAC) and the physical layer device (PHY) by means of the Media Independent (MII) interface.
The LAN8742-CZ-TR incorporates a power immune system (PIS) which is used as an additional protection mechanism. The PIS system responds to over-current and over-voltage conditions by activating an ESD switch to protect the internal circuit.
The LAN8742-CZ-TR also supports ESD protection up to 4kV on the MII, with the ability to withstand high-voltage Electro magnetic Interference (EMI) up to 8kV/m. Furthermore, it isdesigned to operate in a temperature range from -40℃ to +85℃.
