The LM22670EVAL evaluation module is a field programmable device that is used to operate an off-line DC/DC or AC/DC SMPS. The LM22670EVAL evaluation module offers an efficient, easy-to-use, cost-effective way for users to test and design their own circuit boards for AC/DC and DC/DC converters. The LM22670EVAL evaluation module is specifically designed to be used in high power, low voltage voltage regulator applications.
The LM22670EVAL evaluation module provides a complete range of features to help users in their designs, ranging from system level design to component level testing. It features adjustable frequency buck/boost, DC/DC and AC/DC converters with adjustable frequency and peak current capability. There are two independent adjustable fixed-out pins which provide two separate voltage regulation stages for the load bias and peak current regulation. It also features soft start and an adjustable soft start time. The LM22670EVAL evaluation module utilizes cyclic redundancy check (CRC) technology to enable communication with the host board, allowing for efficient, low-error-rate data transmission.
The module features three external power components, including a high-side MOSFET (metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor), a low-side MOSFET (metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor) and a boost diode. The module also features two internal bypass capacitors for output filtering purposes, one discrete (LDO; low-dropout) regulator, one clock oscillator and one external resistor to program the soft start time. The module is programmed for standard low voltage values and includes the necessary components and gauge points for easy debugging and troubleshooting.
The LM22670EVAL evaluation module uses the basic concept of input-output (I/O) voltage regulation. The I/O voltage regulator is designed to maintain a constant output voltage over a wide range of input voltages and to maintain the output voltage under varying load conditions. The module operates in two modes: buck or boost. In buck mode, the voltage is stepped down from the input and in boost mode, the voltage is stepped up from the input. The LM22670EVAL module’s maximum output voltage is 32 volts.
