An LM236Z is an adjustable linear voltage reference and a 3-terminal adjustable shunt voltage regulator created by the Texas Instruments Incorporated. This voltage regulator can output a fixed voltage between 1.237V and 37V, and it is able to handle up to 1.5A of current. It has an exceptionally good regulation and temperature coefficient at high line and load conditions and is suitable for use in a wide range of applications.

The LM236Z has two distinct application fields. Firstly, it can be used as an adjustable shunt regulator in an analogy circuit. It operates by having the excess current that is shunted through the output node which is adjusted to give a fixed voltage reference at the output terminal.
