Analog and digital output temperature sensors, like the LM235AH, are electronic components used to measure temperature in various engineering projects. The LM235AH consists of a transistor, a resistor, an amplifier, and an output signal. The transistor is used to sense the temperature and convert it into an electrical signal. The output signal is used to measure the temperature of the device it’s connected to, or to measure another device’s temperature. The working principle of the LM235AH is based on Wheatstone bridge principle. The Wheatstone bridge is a bridge circuit used for measuring an unknown electrical resistance. The LM235AH utilizes four components to measure temperature: two resistors, a diode, and a transistor. The two variable resistors or thermistors are configured into a two-arm bridge network. The diode temperatuure sensor acts as the bridge reference. The transistor is then connected to the bridge to create a voltage divider circuit.
The LM235AH works by using the natural thermoelectric effect to detect temperature changes. By applying the voltage across the bridge, a change in the voltage is created across the bridge due to the changes in temperature. This change in voltage is then amplified and measured by the circuit. This change in voltage directly corresponds to the change in temperature. The higher the temperature, the higher the voltage output and the lower the temperature, the lower the voltage output. This allows the LM235AH to measure temperatures accurately and reliably over a wide range of temperatures.
