Comparators are electronic circuits used to compare two voltage signals, to determine whether one signal is higher than, lower than, or equal to the other. The LM239PW is a dual, low-power, general purpose comparator with two independent, precision voltage comparators. It is designed specifically to operate over a wide power supply range of 2V to 36V and to operate at speeds of up to 100kHz.

The LM239PW combines precision performance with low-power operation and low-cost. The output stage features a push-pull configuration designed to drive any conventional logic family circuit or output stage in either positive or negative logic. In addition, the output is protected from damage due to high current output or excessive power dissipation.

The primary application for the LM239PW is for monitoring and detecting magnitude relatively small changes in a signal. For example, it can be used in any circuit that requires a comparison between a voltage input and a reference voltage.
