The LM5067MMX-1/NOPB is an advanced hot swap controller designed to manage the hot insertion and removal of boards loaded with power components in a system. The device employs detailed monitoring and control circuitry to allow each voltage rail to safely transition between an unloaded and a loaded state. The LM5067MMX-1/NOPB is optimized to operate in a wide input voltage range. The device can be used in a single supply configuration or a dual supply configuration and also has the ability to operate in a wide operating temperature range.

The core feature of the LM5067MMX-1/NOPB is its programmable current limit feature. The current limit level, which ranges from 150mA to 2A, is selected by external programming, and the UVP (Undervoltage Protection) level is adjustable from 0V to 1.5V. The device also features a configurable fault timer, an enable input pin, a soft-start feature, an adjustable current slew rate, and a power-good monitor. The LM5067MMX-1/NOPB also includes an adjustable voltage downslope to limit the current during pull-in and assists in avoiding inrush and surge current transients.

Additionally, the LM5067MMX-1/NOPB can be controlled using an external I2C interface. The I2C interface allows the device to be programmed and monitored, while also providing system diagnostics information. Furthermore, the LM5067MMX-1/NOPB is designed to provide system level protection from overvoltage and undervoltage faults. The device includes protection from negative voltage transients, over temperature protection, and open load detection.

In applications which require constant load monitoring, the device supports an adjustable OCP (Over Current Protection) monitor. The OCP monitor can be used to detect overcurrents and can also be used to monitor the output current of the fault rail. In case of an overcurrent, the OCP monitor will trip, and the fault rail will be shut down.

To enable a secure power rail transition between an unloaded and a loaded state, the LM5067MMX-1/NOPB employs a dual state of operation. During a hot swap, the device will enter a controlled On-mode first. In this mode, the current limit is reduced, voltage is clamped, and the soft-start time is increased. Once the load characteristics are determined, the device will enter its normal operating mode and the current limit is increased.

The LM5067MMX-1/NOPB has a wide range of features and is well suited for a variety of applications. The device is suitable for applications such as automotive, as well as industrial and medical. The LM5067MMX-1/NOPB is also suitable for applications that require high operating temperature and wide input voltage range.
