The LM5088MH-2EVAL cutler-hammer power supply evaluation board is an evaluation board designed to demonstrate the potential applications and functions of the LM5088MH-2 power integrated converter. It is an evaluation board belonging to the “evaluation boards – DC/DC & AC/DC (off-line) SMPS” category.
The LM5088MH-2EVAL is designed for high performance type, fly-back, primary side sensing DC/DC converter with multiple output protection. It allows the user to control the on/off of the output and set the output voltage precisely with the on-board potentiometers. The LM5088MH-2EVAL evaluation board is equipped with the following components: LM5088MH-2 for power conversion, INA226AL for monitoring input/output voltage and current, a NTC for temperature detection, two 10V halogen lamps for output load, an 11:1 transformer for step-down and step-up power isolation, on-board push-button, potentiometer, indicator LED, ground terminal and input voltage terminal, etc. It also features a complete circuit protection, such as over-current protection and over-temperature protection.
The two key components of the LM5088MH-2EVAL evaluation board are the LM5088MH-2 power integrated converter and the intrinsic feedback elements. The LM5088MH-2 power integrated converter provides an integrated solution to operate a Flyback Power Supply. It has a high-speed PWM, over-current and over-temperature protection. Moreover, it integrates two internal high-side drivers, four isolated drivers and an internal 5V regulator. The intrinsic feedback elements consists of a precision reference voltage, resistor divider, NFET, NFET driver, NFET driver handshaking and opto-isolation. These elements and components are all designed to provide a reliable and precise power supply circuit design.
The LM5088MH-2 is designed to operate in a continuous conduction or discontinuous conduction mode. The continuous conduction mode provides higher power efficiency than the other modes. Thus, the LM5088MH-2 is ideal for high performance applications which require high power efficiency. The intrinsic feedback elements are designed to provide a precise and accurate power output. The intrinsic feedback elements also ensure that the output voltage remains consistent during operation.
