The LMK04803BISQ/NOPB is a high performance, low jitter Clock/Timing device designed for a variety of applications requiring high frequency and low jitter clock sources. It is a high-performance clock generator that documents the best achievable performance over the typical industry temperature range. The device also provides low phase noise, low duty cycle distortion and an on-chip differential-to-single ended drive circuit.

Working Principle

The working principle of the LMK04803BISQ/NOPB is based on a differential-to-single-ended conversion of a high frequency input clock (or input of a 50 MHz low jitter reference), allowing the jitter of the generated clock output to be attenuated. The device can be configured with the output amplitude of 1.2Vpp and the output frequency ranging from 20MHz to 400MHz.

The device features an on-chip PLL loop, allowing attenuation of jitter on input clocks with relatively low jitter. The PLL loop is also equipped with a unique feature called HFCLL, which enables a reduction of the jitter contribution of the reference clock by exchanging it with a sinewave clock of equal frequency. This feature is well suited for applications with stringent jitter requirements.

The device also features an on-chip single-ended-to-differential amplifier for driving low-speed lines with a differential signal. The output buffer can be driven from the FOUT1 output, or from an on-chip LVPECL signal source, depending on the output frequency desired. Furthermore, the LMK04803BISQ/NOPB offers spread-spectrum capabilities to reduce the clock energy in the EMI sensitive frequency bands.

The device includes fast startup, power-down and synchronization features, low latency settling and a very low power consumption of 45 mW. All these attributes make the LMK04803BISQ/NOPB one of the most advanced high-performance clock generation solutions in the market.
