The LNK6666E family of devices from Power Integrations is a LED driver for offline LED lighting applications. The LNK6666E is a high performance, low cost single channel, extendable LED driver designed for low-power LED lighting applications. The LNK6666E provides a low cost solution for a wide range of LED lighting applications such as spotlights, high bay lighting, outdoor lighting, and so on. The device provides a simple and efficient solution to drive LEDs up to 600V with high peak current up to 1.0A.

The LNK6666E operates in a Boost-mode to efficiently drive single series LEDs. The device starts up into a low-power 100kHz fixed-frequency operation and employs a constant-current regulation loop to regulate the current flowing through the LEDs. The accuracy of the current control loop is improved by an onboard thermal compensation circuit. Soft start and short-circuit protection are also integrated.

In order to maximize the system performance and power efficiency of the LED driver, the LNK6666E features both synchronous and non-synchronous operation. In the synchronous switching mode, the device can operate up to 1.2MHz switching frequency. In the non-synchronous mode, the device operates at the default 100kHz switching frequency. By adjusting the switching frequency, the user can optimize the system performance and efficiency. The LNK6666E also features a VCC under-voltage lockout (UVLO) circuit to prevent the device from switching on when the input voltage is below the minimum operating voltage.

The LNK6666E includes some advanced features such as over-voltage protection, overtemperature protection, and brownout protection. In addition, the device also includes an adjustable current setting and a power good signal.
