LT8609AEMSE#PBF is a high efficiency synchronous step-down DC/DC converter which integrates a 650V, 3.4A MOSFET and an integrated dual-channel drivers to deliver up to 6A output current. Built in cycle-by-cycle current limit and output voltage regulation, it provides high reliable operation and allows operating up to a high frequency with low ripple and low noise. The output voltage can be set as low as 0.8V. This device is supplied in a 12-pin 3mmx3mm MLP package with exposed pad.

Application Field

LT8609AEMSE#PBF is designed for a wide range of applications, especially suitable in automotive applications, such as charging systems and interior or exterior lighting control. With wide power supply voltage range, it can work with different input voltage (up to 70V) and also provide accurate output voltage. The current monitoring allows over current protection, making this device suitable for demanding power applications. Additionally, due to its current limit protection, LT8609AEMSE#PBF can also be used for high power system where output current needs to be controlled.

Working Principle

LT8609AEMSE#PBF is a synchronous step-down DC/DC converter. It consists of an internal power MOSFET and a synchronous controller that regulates the output voltage. The internal MOSFET switches on and off at the timely controlled intervals. During the on-time, a certain amount of energy is transferred from the input supply to the output. This energy is used to power the loads and to keep the output voltage at the required level. During the off-time, the MOSFET is turned off and no energy is transferred from the input to the output. The output voltage is sensed by a feedback error amplifier. If the output voltage is not within the specified limits, the internal error amplifier will adjust the duty cycles of the internal power MOSFET accordingly.

LT8609AEMSE#PBF integrates dual-channel drivers that help to reduce the output voltage ripple, improve the transient response and increase the light load efficiency. Additionally, the internal current limit protection helps to limit the output peak current and keep the system safe.
