LT8620EMSE#PBF is an advanced monolithic synchronous step-down switching regulator which is designed for the demanding application fields and power requirements of today’s advanced and emerging technologies. LT8620EMSE#PBF integrates both high-side and low-side MOSFETs with an internal switch node and a programmable-gain error amplifier, eliminating the need for external components and driving cost down dramatically. It eliminates having to design-in extra components and can be used as a voltage regulator to help maintain a nominally steady voltage, adjusting automatically to external circuitry or load changes.

Working Principle

The operating principle of the LT8620EMSE#PBF is based on the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) technique. Internally, LT8620EMSE#PBF uses an internal voltage reference, error amplifier, and two MOSFETs to produce a constant voltage output with a wide input voltage range. The error amplifier will adjust the duty cycle of the MOSFETs depending on the input voltage and load, to ensure the output voltage remains constant.When the device is turning off, the energy stored in the inductor will be pushed back to the load current resulting in output overshoot and ringing of the output voltage. To prevent this, LT8620EMSE#PBF incorporates a programmable-gain error amplifier with a slope compensation current source and a proprietary compensation algorithm designed to provide fast transient response, excellent input voltage and load regulation, and improved system performance.The current mode control part of the LT8620EMSE#PBF is based on synchronous rectification, with both the high and low MOSFETs controlled to provide a constant current path, which ensures a constant current flow regardless of the input voltage or output voltage. The two MOSFETs work in synchronisation to reduce ripple, while accurately controlling the output voltage.
