Constructing Working Principle

The LT8705AIUHF employs five distinct control domains, namely output voltage regulation loop, P-channel MOSFETs current loop, N-channel MOSFETs current loop, power good flag, and loop comparator. The figure below shows the block diagram of LT8705AIUHF.

When the external power MOSFET is connected to a node that has the same voltage as it, the output voltage regulation loop is enabled. This will then start working on controlling the external power MOSFET as well as the external N-channel MOSFETs which control the output current. When the output voltage is within the specified range, the power good flag is enabled and the cycle will then repeat.

The overall current sensing loop is composed of the P-channel MOSFETs current loop, N-channel MOSFETs current loop and loop comparator. The loop comparator monitors the current output at the voltage rail of the power MOSFETs and the overall operation of the circuit. The P-channel current sensing loop is then used to determine the drain current of the P-channel MOSFETs. The N-channel current sensing loop is then used to determine the drain current of the N-channel MOSFETs.

Additionally, the LT8705AIUHF also provides integrated protection features such as under-voltage protection, over-current protection, and thermal shut down protection. All these features are configured through the input parameters of the device and the overall operation is monitored through the power good flag and the cycle repeats until all conditions are met.
