The LT8705HFE#TRPBF operates in a synchronous buck regulator topology. Inthis topology, the input power is connected to the output of the power switchwhich is an N-channel MOSFET. The voltage across the switch is regulatedusing the external voltage divider and a voltage loop between the switch nodeand the error amplifier.
The error amplifier senses the voltage at the switch node and compares itto a reference voltage. If the voltage rises above the reference voltage,the error amplifier will reduce the drive to the power switch and thus shutit off. This will reduce the current in the switch, which will reduce thevoltage at the switch node. Similarly, if the voltage falls below thereference voltage, the error amplifier will increase the drive to the powerswitch and thus increase the current in the switch, which will increase thevoltage at the switch node.
