This device is also capable to deliver up to 4A with excellent efficiency, while providing high load and line transient responses. The LT8708HUHG#PBF offers multiple protection functions, such as over-current protection (OCP), over-voltage protection (OVP), and thermal shutdown (TSD).

Working Principle

The LT8708HUHG#PBF is designed to operate with a synchronous buck topology, which uses two power switches to transfer energy from an input voltage source to an output load in order to provide a regulated output voltage.The device features an internal VCS (voltage control signal) voltage regulator, which generates a stable reference voltage for the PWM control circuitry. This regulator provides the device with ripple-free performance even in high ripple environments such as when using ceramic output capacitors.The device further includes an internal High-Side (HS) and Low-Side (LS) MOSFET driver, which is capable to drive MOSFETs up to 4A with low RDSon.The LT8708HUHG#PBF incorporates various protection features such as OCP, OVP and TSD to prevent overloading, over-temperature, and short-circuit failures.The device has adjustable output voltage, adjustable Current Sense Threshold, adjustable Soft-Start Threshold, and adjustable switching frequency which can be easily configured using external resistors. The output ripple can also be reduced by using an output capacitor.The LT8708HUHG#PBF operates with a wide input voltage range of 4V-18V, making it suitable for applications running on a wide input voltage range.
