Data Acquisition - Analog to Digital Converters (ADC) has become an important technology in recent years. It is used in many applications ranging from medical imaging, automotive, industrial, to consumer electronics. The MAX111BCPE+ is an ultra-high resolution 16-bit buffered differential input low power successive approximation analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with performance features that are typical in device families. It\'s ideal for battery-operated portable designs.
The basic configurable features that make the MAX111BCPE+ parts so versatile include a wide input voltage range from 2.7V to 3.6V and sample rates from 32ksps to 1000ksps.The parasitic diodes present in the summing amplifier are removed in single-ended input mode and the input common mode range is configurable for superior noise performance.The part is capable of operating from 2.7V to 3.6V, with low power consumption for 3V supply.
The input multiplexer allows up to eight single-ended inputs or four differential inputs with simultaneous sampling and conversion.The part improves resolution by operating the SAR clock at twice the input sample rate, allowing the user to control jitter on the size of the sequential residue. The use of successive approximation register (SAR) converter allows a higher throughput rate than other devices and improves the signal to noise ratio (SNR).In addition, the device provides a differential reference with a configurable reference range. This range can be adjustable down to 1.25V with the ability to track the supply voltage.
The other beneficial features of the MAX111BCPE+ include wide dynamic range, low offset and drift, no gain-error accumulation and excellent linearity.The wide dynamic range allows the device to convert high speed signals without distortion, while the low offset and drift help to maintain a constant accuracy over long sampling periods. No gain-error accumulation further enhances the accuracy of the ADC.The excellent linearity of the MAX111BCPE+ makes it suitable for application in high speed ADC systems and other critical applications requiring accuracy.
The device has fast auto-calibration or automated offset cancellation, which helps to reduce system setup and calibration time.It also offers low power consumption with a total power consumption of 3.2mA at 3V, making it suitable for battery-powered portable device applications.The MAX111BCPE+ is compliant with Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) applications, as well as with mobile TV and wireless communications, making it a versatile ADC across many markets.
The MAX111BCPE+ devices are packaged into a 7-pin SC70 (2mmx2mm), 6-pin SOT-23 and 10-pin MSOP (3mmx3mm) packages and are available in extended temperature range (-40C to +125C). The devices also feature a general purpose parallel port, allowing external programming and control of the device. The user can take the device out of power down state and bring the device in active sampling at any point after that. In addition, the device allows daisy chaining of multiple devices, which can speed up setup time.
