The MAX1232CPA+ is a powerhouse triple-zone, low-power, extended battery-backup supervisor, a member of the Supervisory Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) family. It is specifically designed to protect microprocessor (MPU) and system circuits. It safeguards and regulates a system\'s power supply with three function blocks, two independent comparators, real-time clock (RTC) and reset timing, self-calibration and nonvolatile memory capable of storing system data.
The MAX1232CPA+ has universal application fields due to its low power consumption and three different voltage levels. It can be used in consumer products, as well as in industrial, automotive, computing, and communications applications. Additionally, the device features an integrated supervisor and power-on logic, as well as an independent watchdog, supply monitor, and overvoltage protection (OVP).
The MAX1232CPA+ operates on a 3.3V power supply. It provides a microprocessor reset signal for the following application scenarios: power supply range, power-rail disconnection, VBAT drop, supply voltage drop, Watchdog reset and OVP reset. The device has an integrated power-on reset logic that can detect power-up or power-down conditions. Additionally, the MAX1232CPA+ also has control logic that allows the user to enable or disable the power-on reset logic.
The MAX1232CPA+ offers an advanced reset generation system that allows users to set reset levels and assert reset signals with precise timing. It includes a comparator and real-time clock that work together to assert a reset signal at the right time. The comparator continuously monitors the supply voltage, which can be set to one of three different levels -- 2.6V, 2.8V, and 3.0V -- to detect out-of-range conditions. The MAX1232CPA+ is capable of precisely adjusting its reset output timing, which allows users to assign different reset events to specific time intervals.
The MAX1232CPA+ features a nonvolatile memory that can store important data and settings, including reset levels, reset timing, and Watchdog parameters. This memory is protected from data loss in case of sudden power interruption. It also features a self-calibration feature which automatically recalibrates the device to optimize its performance.
