The MAX149/MAX149A/MAX149ACAP are 8-channel, 10-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) designed for data acquisition systems. The MAX149/MAX149A convert analog input signals to 10-bit digital words, while the MAX149ACAP features a noise-immune, analog-to-digital conversion process that results in highly accurate readings of even low-level signals. The MAX149 family is ideal for use in a wide variety of data acquisition applications including process control systems, medical instrumentation, industrial measurements, environmental monitoring, and automotive signals monitoring.

The MAX149/MAX149A/MAX149ACAP are available in an 8-pin narrow-body SOIC package that is ideal for automated surface mounting processes. The MAX149/MAX149A are available in 8-pin DIP, 14-pin DIP, and 14-pin SOIC packages for prototyping, evaluation, and short-term systems. An onboard reference and reference buffer make it easy to power the converters with a single, low-noise power supply. The MAX149\'s low power requirements make it ideal for portable and battery-powered applications.

The MAX149/MAX149A feature an onboard 8-channel multiplexer that allows the user to select the desired input channel. Each channel can be set to one of four different programmable ranges covering a range of 0 to 5V, 0 to 10V, -5V to +5V, and -10V to +10V. The onboard sample-and-hold circuitry captures the analog input signal and stores it until the converter completes its conversion cycle. The MAX149/MAX149A have a conversion time of 13µs and a minimum throughput rate of 75ksps.

The MAX149ACAP features a unique noise-immune analogue-to-digital conversion process that results in non-subjective, highly accurate readings of even low-level signals. This noise-immune technology significantly reduces the range of the low-level signals so their accuracy is significantly improved. Other advanced features of the MAX149ACAP include a wide-bandwidth oversampling technique, a low-power mode, an extended I/O range, and a selectable 0 to 5V, 0 to 10V, -5V to +5V, and -10V to +10V input range. The MAX149ACAP features a conversion time of 5µs and a minimum throughput rate of 250ksps.

The MAX149/MAX149A/MAX149ACAP offer a variety of features to minimize power consumption and extend battery life. These include a low power sleep mode, a low current consumption of less than 50µA during conversion, and a maximum power consumption of only 350mW. The MAX149/MAX149A/MAX149ACAP also feature an extended temperature range of -40 to +85°C. This makes them ideal for use in data acquisition applications with extreme temperature ranges.

The MAX149/MAX149A/MAX149ACAP feature an enhanced power-down capability that provides low power consumption with no sacrifice in accuracy. The power-down mode reduces current consumption to less than 10µA and maintains an accuracy of ±3LSB. During power-down mode, input channels and the sample-and-hold capacitor are disconnected from the external circuit, significantly minimizing power consumption.
