The MAX15026BATD+T is an advanced power monitor and DC–DC controller IC from Maxim Integrated. It is part of Maxim’s T-Series of power monitoring and DC-DC switching controllers and is ideal for high-performance, multi-phase power monitoring and control. The MAX15026BATD+T features a single-voltage input supply and provides intelligent control of up to 8 phases of buck regulators, and the maximum switchable current is 127A. This device provides full support for both current sensing and voltage sensing in power delivery applications, such as notebooks and computing for both stationary and mobile applications.

Working Principle

The primary function of the MAX15026BATD+T is to monitor and control the on-state and off-state currents of up to 8 phases of synchronous and non-synchronous buck regulators. The device monitors the voltage and current at the output of the buck regulators and turns each phase of the buck regulator on and off via a high-speed, low-threshold 4-organization Digital to Analog Converter (DAC). The DAC output is then fed to the appropriate gate drivers which switch the buck regulator’s power devices at a rate determined by the configured switching frequency.The MAX15026BATD+T also features integrated line and load regulation. The user is able to configure the minimum on-time and phase current via pin settings. The device is able to detect the output voltage drops and phase current drops below a predetermined thresholds and trigger the appropriate actions.Furthermore, the device features a programmable Under-Voltage Lockout (UVLO) threshold, over-voltage protection, soft start, programmable OCP/UVP protection, clock-synchronizable switching frequency and 2-wire or 4-wire fan-speed control. All these features ensure reliable operation and performance.
