The MAX156ACNG+ is a high performance analog-to-digital (ADC) converter that performs precision digitization of analog signals in data acquisition systems. It provides an excellent combination of precision, dynamic range, power consumption and cost efficiency. The MAX156ACNG+ features a 16-bit Delta-Sigma ADC designed for sampling input signals from DC to 250kHz, with a maximum sample rate of 1MHz. The on-chip filter architecture ensures high frequency noise is suppressed and offset is minimized for more accurate results. The MAX156ACNG+ supports both 4-channel and 8-channel simultaneous sampling configurations, each with programmable gain control (PGA). It also features two differential analog inputs, an internal temperature sensor, and three programmable digital filters. The versatile analog input range and programmable digital filter integrator align the ADC with a wide range of data acquisition and conversion applications. The MAX156ACNG+ is the ideal ADC for a wide range of applications in industrial, automotive, medical and consumer markets.
The MAX156ACNG+ features a low-jitter, high-precision architecture with excellent linearity and low noise. Its very low differential nonlinearity (DNL) ensures every measured data point has the same amplitude as the previous one, for more accurate analog-to-digital results. The MAX156ACNG+ is designed to operate from a single 1.8V to 3.3V supply, and can convert up to four signals simultaneously. Its low power consumption and low distortion figures make it ideal for portable data acquisition applications. In addition to its fast settling time and wide input bandwidth, the MAX156ACNG+ also provides an adjustable input common mode voltage from 0 to 1.2V and programmable sampling rate from 250kHz to 1MHz. Furthermore, its internal tracking channel enables simultaneous sampling without instabilities.
The MAX156ACNG+ working principle features a Sigma-Delta based modulation technique that converts an analog input signal into a digital output. The MAX156ACNG+ uses an over-sampling architecture in which the incoming signal is sampled at a much higher rate than the desired resolution. The larger number of samples leads to greater resolution, improved signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and better linearity. The input signal is then passed through a digital low-pass filter which reduces noise and ensures the output signal has a flat frequency spectrum. The modulator then quantizes the filtered signal and produces an output value that is proportional to the signal’s amplitude.
The MAX156ACNG+ is ideal for applications such as test and measurement, communication and signal processing, medical imaging and diagnostics, automotive and industrial process control, sonar, robotics and mechatronics, data acquisition and instrumentation.
