Working Principle:

This yields high efficiency over a wide input voltage and load current range.The device has an internal undervoltage lockout (UVLO) circuit that powers down the device if the input voltage falls below a predetermined threshold. This protects the device from unintentional operation at low input voltages.The MAX1651CSA also has an on-chip Dual-Mode Detect circuit for monitoring the output voltage. The Dual-Mode Detect circuit provides both an internal power-good indication, as well as an external fan-board signaling pin. The pin can be connected to a fan driver IC to disable the fan if the output voltage is too low.The device also provides a current-limit detect output pin, which can be connected to an external power switch to disconnect the load in case of an over-current situation.
