The MAX17126BETM+ is a multi-package, low-dropout regulator designed to provide single-supply, low-noise voltage output levels to small, low-power, handheld and other portable applications. Employing a patented, high-performance topology, the MAX17126BETM+ controller can provide 0.8 V to 5 V at 1 A output levels with excellent transient response. The MAX17126BETM+ also provides one, low-noise, low dropout voltage output, very low output voltage ripple, high input voltage (3 V to 5.5 V), comprehensive fault protection (ESD, overtemperature, overcurrent, and short-circuit protection), and adjustable current limit. This makes the MAX17126BETM+ ideal for battery-powered and low-power applications.
The MAX17126BETM+ provides three operating modes that can be chosen depending on the specific application requirements: battery charger mode (charging current up to 150 mA), shutdown mode, and battery monitoring mode. In battery charger mode, the MAX17126BETM+ provides a constant voltage output with programmable current limit. In shutdown mode, the power supply is turned off to conserve energy. In battery monitoring mode, the battery voltage is monitored to ensure that it stays within acceptable levels when in use. The MAX17126BETM+ also features an internal temperature sensor which eliminates the need for an external temperature sensor in many applications.
