MAX17126ETM+T is a power management integrated circuit (PMIC) specialised to use in rechargeable batteries. It includes a low noise buck low dropout (LDO) Linear regulator, power switches and cell balancing relays. It also has a programmable LED driver and I2C/SMBus-compatible interface. The device is design to simplify the design process by providing accurate current monitoring and over-current protection in one single-chip.

Application Field

The MAX17126ETM+T PMIC is suitable for a wide range of applications such as portable electronics, wearable devices and medical equipment. It is designed to support the requirements of high capacity Li-Ion batteries used in mobile devices. Working Principle

The MAX17126ETM+T PMIC is built on a high-performance processor, which can store and execute custom data logging, cell balancing and protection algorithms. The design is divided into 4 independent and programmable blocks; buck regulator, system power switch, cell balancing and cell protection. The buck regulator provides an efficient power conversion, while the power switch provides precise voltage and current control. The cell balancing feature allows monitoring of individual cells and regulates the voltage to ensure a healthy and safe battery balancing.

The cell protection features ensure that electrical and thermal safety parameters are monitored and maintained. The MAX17126ETM+T PMIC includes a 32-bit RISC processor, programmable switchable FETs, instantaneous current sensing and a programmable LED driver for illumination. It has 14-bit voltage, 12-bit current and 16-bit temperature measurements, and three adjustable voltage alarm thresholds. It also has protection from over-charging, over-heat and under-voltage conditions.

The MAX17126ETM+T PMIC is designed to provide an advanced solution for Li-Ion battery management applications. It has a variety of settings and parameters, as well as advanced algorithms for charging, discharging and data logging. The device is small, low cost and highly efficient, providing excellent performance and reliability when monitoring and controlling Li-Ion batteries.
