MAX1714AEEP+T is a DC/DC switching controller designed for easy implementation of AC/DC, DC/DC and OR-ing applications.

The MAX1714AEEP+T has a wide input voltage range of 4 to 42V. It can also be powered from a single-ended or balanced/differential input, with a logic controlled power-on reset and an adjustable current limit. The device includes a single-phase synchronous buck converter with an operational range of 1.2V to 6V.

Working principle

The MAX1714AEEP+T DC/DC switching controller features synchronous rectification resulting in high efficiency and lower power dissipation. The device operates a switching frequency of 400kHz to 2.4MHz, allowing for a wide range of high-frequency applications to be implemented. The device also features a resistor programmable oscillator for precise switching frequency control.

The MAX1714AEEP+T operates in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM), with a switching frequency that is adjustable using a resistor or forced to a fixed frequency by an external logic signal. The MAX1714AEEP+T also contains an optional integrated load disconnect circuit, which is used to control the output voltage level and reduces power dissipation when the load is removed.

The MAX1714AEEP+T offers an adjustable current limit that is set by the external resistor or programmed by an external logic signal. The current limit is adjustable from 0.4A to 5A, allowing for very efficient power conversion.
