The MAX1967EUB+ is a high-performance, high-speed, low-input supply current dual control loop DC/DC converter that provides MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) and CCM (Continuous Conduction Mode) operation with high efficiency and a wide input range up to 100-V. The MAX1967EUB+ simplifies circuitry by integrating a reference, synchronous rectifier gate drivers and a MOSFET pass element. It enables a high step-down ratio and fast transient response with good line and load regulation.

The key applications of the MAX1967EUB+ include non-isolated DC/DC converters and interface power supplies, USB PD, battery charger, automotive and smart phone applications. It is provided in a space-saving 5mmx7mm QFN-40 package and is rated for operation from -40C to 125C ambient temperature. Its high switching frequency of 2MHz, low conversion loss, Advanced Current Mode operation and minimization of external components make the MAX1967EUB+ an ideal choice for space-constrained, high-density applications.

Working Principle: The MAX1967EUB+ operates using two control loops which regulate the current and voltage across the output load together. It consists of an input buck PWM modulator, an error amplifier and a current loop. The PWM modulator controls the input voltage while the error amplifier and current loop control the output voltage and current, respectively. The output voltage is set by adjusting the voltage reference using an external resistor; this gives the user the flexibility to set the output level.

The MAX1967EUB+ is able to reduce power losses with the integration of a synchronous rectifier MOSFET driver, low-RDS(ON) MOSFET and low-cost capacitor. It also provides additional protection features such as cycle-by-cycle current limit, UVLO, over-temperature shutdown and hiccup short-circuit protection.

The MAX1967EUB+ provides a wide input range of up to 100V and has a rated output current of 12A. This, together with the MPPT and the CCM operational modes, makes it suitable for a variety of applications. Its fast transient response ensures a good regulation of the output voltage, while its high switching frequency minimizes the size of the external components.
