Working Principle

The MAX3097E is a supervisor chip primarily used for interface-driver applications in the range of 1 V to 7 V. It features three open-drain reset outputs, adjustable Power-on Reset time-out period, adjustable reset output pulse width and adjustable over-up supply voltage invert method. It also features a serial bus with switching speeds of up to 30 MHz.

The reset outputs are enabled when IPS (the input voltage fed to it) is higher than the preset voltage. IPOL (the polarity pin) is used to set the rising (active high) or falling (active low) edge of IPS triggering the reset output. The reset output pulse width (PWA) can be adjusted by an external capacitor, and is designed with internal hysteresis for noise immunity.

The power-on reset time-out period is adjustable by an external resistor, and is designed to start from the rising (or falling) edge of IPS if it is higher (or lower) than preset voltage. The over-up supply voltage invert method is adjustable by an external resistor, and is designed to make the reset output inactive when the input voltage is greater than or equal to the preset voltage.

The MAX3097E is also equipped with a serial bus with switching speed up to 30 MHz. The chip is designed to work with both 3.3V TTL logic and 5V CMOS logic. The serial bus also features a low supply- and ground-bounce current of 1 µA, making it highly reliable and stable.
