The Working Principle
Generally, the MAX3222CDW uses the RS-232 transceiver circuit to transmit and receive serial data. The RS-232 transceiver circuit consists of a serial port and a receiver chip, which have to be connected to each other to facilitate communication. The serial port is generally connected to the host system, while the receiver chip is connected to the target system. In order to achieve the bidirectional communication, the RS-232 transceiver circuit contains two transceiver pins, the Transmit Data (TxD) pin and the Receive Data (RxD) pin, which are connected together directly. Once the serial transmission is initiated, the serial port will send out data through the TxD pin and the receiving chip will transfer the serial data to the target system through RxD pin. The working of RS-232 transceiver circuit is as follows:
1. Firstly, the host needs to establish a connection with the target system through the transmission of the start bit.2. After the connection is established, the host will transmit the data according to the communication protocol until the end bit is sent. 3. The receiver chip will then receive the data and send it to the target system. 4. The target system will process the data and transmit the response back to the host. 5. The cycle will be repeated until the communication is finished.The MAX3222CDW is also equipped with an error detection and correction (EDC) module, which can detect any data transmission error during the communication process.
