The MAX3098EACEE+ is a low-cost, fully featured, ESD-protected,ultra-low-power, multiprotocol transceiver/receiver withan integrated charge-pump system. It offers a cost-effective,small-footprint solution for low-voltage bidirectionalcommunications systems in a tiny 2mm x 2mm QFNpackage.

The MAX3098EACEE+ is specifically designed forreliable, low-energy communications between any of the manystandard low-voltage logic families, such as 1.8 V logic, 2.5V logic, and 3.3 V logic, while still achieving good ESDprotection. The device can handle high-voltage signals up to 15V, easing the requirement for multiple voltage level shiftersthat use separate supply voltages at the destination device.

The MAX3098EACEE+ is a bidirectional transceiver/receiver, which means it can interface between two differentlyvolted systems, receiving and outputting signals from each sideof the board. The device is versatile and can be implementedin many applications.

Working Principle of MAX3098EACEE+

The MAX3098EACEE+ has an exclusive inputComparator and an integrated charge pump system thatallows the device to operate in high-voltage environments.The device inputs, outputs, and charge pump power supplyvoltage can be independent of each other. The wide operatingvoltage of up to 15 V lets it receive and output signals fromdifferent logic levels without the need for voltage levelshifting.

The device has an integrated CMOS Schmitt trigger andan ECL inverter that convert the high-voltage input signals tooutput signals with low voltage. This inverter is ideal for lowpower consumption and improved signal integrity over thelongest transmission lines.

The MAX3098EACEE+ level shifter featuresimproved ESD protection, enabling high-voltage interfacingand data transmission without the need for additional ESDprotection components. The device also featuresautomated power management capabilities, as well as a slewrate control configuration that allows the designer to modifythe speed, frequency, and current consumption of the deviceaccording to the application\'s requirements.

The device comes with a low-power Sleep Mode,whereby the RX pin is disabled and all I/O pins are driven toGND. This allows for a wide range of applications thatrequire low-power, low-voltage communications. The devicealso supports Inrush current control, eliminating power spikeproblems during hot insertion or removal of the device.

The MAX3098EACEE+ enables low-cost,high-performance transceiver/receiver designs by providing awide variety of features in a small 2mm x 2mm QFNpackage. It simplifies design, reduces costs, and enhancesreliability for any low-voltage communications system.
