The MAX3227CAE+ is an advanced 5 Mbps and 1 Mbps triple RS-232/HS-232 line transceiver from Maxim Integrated Products. Working Principle
The MAX3227CAE+ line transceiver is a low power, high speed, triple line RS-232/HS-232 transceiver. It enables transfer of 12-bit words of data at data rates up to 5 Mbps between devices. It converts the logic-level signals present at the driver outputs to balanced line signals for transmission over asynchronous communication lines, and vice versa.The LVTTL (Low Voltage Transistor Transistor Logic) signals from a DTE (Data Terminal Equipment) are converted to equivalent balanced line signals for transmission over the compatible asynchronous communication line. The MAX3227CAE+ transceiver converts the line voltage on the communication line to equivalent logic levels.
The logic outputs are also used to control line current via the current-limited drivers. It contains an in-line driver and an in-line receiver. Each of the triple line transceivers has a 3V supply. The logic outputs are open drain, providing not only pull-down capability but enabling both the positive and negative polarities of the driven signal. The lines are short-circuit protected. The MAX3227CAE+ provides a higher system integrity than other transceivers and is capable of producing signals over 10x faster than competing products.
