MAX3243CAI+ is a transceivers, drivers, and receivers device made and manufactured by Maxim Integrated Products. The device is an Integrated Single Channel RS232 Line Driver and Receiver. It has an input voltage of 1.8V and -0.3V to +6.0V and an RS232 output voltage of -10V to +10V.

The device features a High-Performance, Low-Power, Slew-Rate-Limited Transmitters which has a Slew Rate of 10V/uS and a Low Shutdown Current of 200nA. In addition, the device has an On-Chip ESD Protection and 5KV Human Body Model (HBM). It also has an Analog Isolation for Enhanced EMI Performance.

The MAX3243CAI+ transceivers and receivers have 2 different modes of operation, ½ duplex and full duplex. In the ½ duplex, the device will only transmit or receive at any given time and it is possible to multiplex the device when in full-duplex mode. The device also has an adjustable receiver thresholds which allows for longer cable lengths. The adjustable receiver thresholds also make it less susceptible to external noise.

The main application field of the MAX3243CAI+ transceivers are for the RS232 interface of communication systems, consumer electronics, industrial, medical and other application.
