Working Principle

The MAX333MJP/883B contains an analog switch and a multiplexer/demultiplexer. It is able to connect and control up to 16 analog signal lines in closed loop. When the selest input is connected to the multiplexer, it serves as a switch with best-in-class on-resistance of 0.3Ω to 0.6Ω. The analog switch will then be operated by two input control signals, enabling and disabling the switch connection between the selected input channel and the output.

The multiplexer/demultiplexer consists of a multiplexer with 4-16 inputs and a demultiplexer with one to four outputs. It is used to route signals in one direction or the opposite direction, depending on the case. It can be used to select one input source and to generate multiple outputs, or, alternatively, it can enable multiple input sources and to generate one output.

Furthermore, the MAX333MJP/883B features integrated ESD protection, which protects the device from static discharges and from ESD rated at ±8kV (human body model, according to IEC 61000-4-2, level 4). It further contains an auto-shutdown feature, which reduces the current consumption to 1µA when the device is not selecting any channels, ensuring high power efficiency and low power consumption.
