MAX3430CSA+

The MAX3430CSA+ is an USB to RS485/RS422/TTL bi-directional full-duplex transceiver featuring a low-power standby mode and configurable slew rates. It uses the latest differential transceivers designed to operate on both low-power and full-speed USB buses. With its combination of small size, low-power, low operating voltage, and immunity to line noise, the MAX3430CSA+ is perfectly suited for USB to Interface applications.

The MAX3430CSA+ supports three modes of operation; RS485, RS422 and TTL. All three modes can be used to drive/receive/fetch data from a variety of digital logic systems. The MAX3430CSA+ supports data rates up to 1Mbps for RS485 and up to 9.6Mbps for RS422 and TTL, respectively.

The MAX3430CSA+ can switch between full speed and low power modes with a simple input configuration. When in full speed mode, the MAX3430CSA+ provides a differential output capability with up to 15mA sinking current. In low-power mode, the MAX3430CSA+ uses only 5mA powered from the USB bus. This allows for low-power operation of USB based systems.

The MAX3430CSA+ features an integrated 2-wire interface for easy control of the transceiver. The advantages of this 2-wire interface include low power and minimal pin count, allowing for easy system integration and a low PCB area footprint. The 2-wire interface is also used to configure the device, from setting the transceiver data rate to configuring the slew rate.

The MAX3430CSA+ provides a configurable slew rate, allowing the user to tailor the device’s response to the data rate and interface requirements. The slew rate can be set to 40ns, 20ns, or 10ns, allowing the user to set the response time of the device to the required performance level. The device also allows the user to enable/disable the internal pull-up resistors and enable/disable the receiver enable (RE) signal, allowing the user to fine tune the recognition and response of the device.

The MAX3430CSA+ provides excellent EMC/EMI protection allowing it to be used in harsh and noisy environments. The device also features a built-in input protection circuit that prevents damage to the device from over-voltage and over-current conditions. The device also features a built-in power-on reset circuit that automatically resets the device to its default state, preventing data errors from over-voltages and under-voltages.
