The MAX3468CSA+ is a drivable, receive-enabled, 3.3V RS485 transceiver from Maxim Integrated. It is a cost-effective, low-power solution for transmitting and receiving up to one million bits per second (Mbps) over twisted-pair cables. The MAX3468CSA+ is a differential line transceiver, which means it can transmit and receive data over twisted pair cables, such as RS-485 or RS-422. The transceiver includes a differential transmitter, which operates from a single +3.3V supply. The ESD protection circuit is designed to protect the receiver and transceiver with greater than 8kV contact, and greater than 15kV air discharge protection.

The transceivers’ drive capability can be adjusted with two switches on the device’s external pin package. The maximum drive current can be adjusted using an on-chip trim DAC, which can be adjusted between 32-128mA. The drive current can also be increased to the maximum value without any additional hardware.

The MAX3468CSA+ transceiver also includes a low-power shutdown mode. When the SLEEP pin is asserted low, the device is placed into a low-power shutdown mode, which reduces the current consumption to less than 10µA. When in kHz TX or RX Mode, the SLEEP pin will enter the low-power shutdown mode automatically.
