Analog switches, multiplexers and demultiplexers are three important components of monitor system interfaces, the MAX350EWN+ application field and working principle is introduced in this article. The MAX350EWN+ is a 20-channel multiplexer/demultiplexer integrated circuit (IC), designed to provide an analog channel-switching function in LCD monitor systems. It’s suitable for the application of XGA, SXGA and others. It is widely used in medical imaging, broadcasting and other commercial and industrial systems. The IC is designed to switch/expand/delay one of two 2 x 10 (20-channel) RGB, YCbCr and/or composite video signals. The 20 channels include two 10-channel videos, each with a three-bit output. It also provides an alternative 255-level variable gain adjuster that can be independently adjusted to switch each channel. The MAX350EWN+ features an ultra-low power operating current of 140 mA maximum and operates in temperatures from -40℃ to +85℃. It uses a type-J high-speed comparator to ensure excellent switching accuracy with a jitter of less than 5ns. The IC has a channel-switching time of 0.02ms. It is highly reliable and uses a low-voltage (1.8V) CMOS technology for efficient operation.The MAX350EWN+ also has a high shield shell structure and output pins for better EMI performance. It is built with a logic low selected N-channel MOSFET and a single input enable line for a more reliable system. It also has built-in error detection and protection circuits that provide fault protection against short-circuit and output load disturbances. The MAX350EWN+ is available in a MSOP-14 package and requires minimal external components.
