It is designed to meet the needs of those applications requiring a low-capacitance array with a fast response and superior ESD protection. The MAX366CSA+ is ideal for protecting high-speed digital signals such as USB and HDMI ports, TFT LCD displays, and other high-speed signal lines.The device consists of four low-capacitance transient voltage suppression (TVS) diodes and a protection diode in a single package. The low capacitance of the device helps to prevent signal degradation caused by ringing and other overvoltage conditions. The protection diode provides enhanced ESD protection for the transient voltage suppression diode array by clamping high voltage transients that may exceed the breakdown voltage of the TVS array.The working principle of the MAX366CSA+ is based on the reverse bias of the protection diode. The protection diode is activated when the voltage across the TVS array exceeds its breakdown voltage, creating a conduction channel between the two TVS terminals. This allows the current to pass through the diode, limiting the voltage to a point lower than the breakdown of the TVS devices. This is the principle that provides superior ESD protection from overvoltage transients.The MAX366CSA+ can also be used to provide ESD protection for signal lines with low voltage levels. It has high-level protection of up to +/- 16kV. This makes it ideal for protecting data lines as low as 1.8V, which is ideal for protection of digital video signals, such as HDMI signals.The MAX366CSA+ also offers the ability to provide total system protection, including power supply input protection. This is achieved through two integrated protection diodes.
