MAX3680EAI is a multi-purpose, dual differential bus transceiver integrated circuit developed by Maxim Integrated. It can be used to interface between various analog and digital signals. The MAX3680EAI is ideal for use in low power applications such as false detection in fiber optic networks, linear optical subnetworks, access control systems, and industrial control systems.
The MAX3680EAI+ is a fully integrated dual differential serializer-deserializer (SERDES) designed to operate with a voltage range of 1.2V to 3.6V. It is also capable of data rates up to 8Gbps. The integrated system provides clock and data recovery, retiming, and differential input and output (I/O) capabilities. The integrated SERDES offers low jitter and noise, low power consumption, and a programmable delay for each I/O line reducing the need for external components.
The MAX3680EAI+ is a combination of three devices: the MAX3680EAI receiver, the MAX3680EAI+ deserializer, and the MAX3680EAI+ serializer. The receiver consists of a differential voltage receiver, a clock/data recovery (CDR) circuit, a 1-Gbps or 8-Gbps data path, and a retiming circuit. The deserializer converts the 8-bit wide serial data to 8 parallel data streams that can be integrated through the serializer. The serializer converts 8-bit parallel data streams to 8-bit serial data output. The combination of these three devices is an ideal solution for transmitting and receiving data across a large number of data channels at high speeds, while maintaining small sizes and low power consumption.
The integrated clock and data recovery circuit enables the MAX3680EAI+ to recover and convert data signals from multiple sources into one common communication interface. The internal clock/data recovery unit includes a phase-locked loop (PLL) for clock regeneration. The PLL allows the MAX3680EAI+ to perform data recovery through the clock and data recovery unit at data rates up to 8Gbps, while consuming minimal power.
Additionally, the integrated retiming circuit provides built-in, simple data handling rail pacing which is essential for isolating data oscillations and signal attenuation across wide data paths. The MAX3680EAI+ retiming circuit also reduces jitter and latency, providing a reliable communication system.
The MAX3680EAI+ can also be used in applications that require optoelectronic link protection. The integrated ESD protection circuit can provide overvoltage protection for the data lines of a signal and also provide transient current protection for optical transceivers.
The MAX3680EAI+ is easy to use and can be implemented in various applications with its integrated features. The PLL provides data recovery up to 8Gbps. The ESD protection circuit helps protect expensive optical transceivers and enhances the performance of the system. Additionally, the integrated retiming circuit ensures reliable communication and minimizes jitter and latency.
