The MAX3841EVKIT is an evaluation board and an advanced demonstration board kit from Maxim Integrated. The MAX3841EVKIT enables quick design evaluation of Maxim\'s MAX3841, a 6-channel high-speed 2:1 multilayer mux switch. This comprehensive design tool provides designers with a complete, ready-to-build prototype platform to evaluate the MAX3841 and its performance as a critical part of a complete system or subsystem.
The MAX3841EVKIT is designed to assess, explore and become familiar with the MAX3841 device and its features. In addition, the evaluation board allows designers to optimize the design with interface components and connect the mux switch to other components and circuitry with ease. The board also helps developers optimize dynamic characteristics such as bandwidth, power consumption, crosstalk, signal integrity, and controlmuxnality. It also allows system designers to perform system integration, minimize component selection, program and debug interfaces and increase system reliability.
The MAX3841EVKIT operates with a wide range of input conditions and power supply levels. The evaluation board operates from a maximum supply voltage of +15V and a minimum supply voltage of -15V. Also, with the multiplexer switch, the operating range extends from -200mV to +200mV for both input and output voltage levels.
The MAX3841EVKIT includes connectors for an external power supply, a power-on indicator LED, an external crystal oscillator, a local EZLink interface and a microcontroller programmer/debugger interface. The kit also includes a comprehensive and supportive design tool including detailed schematics and board files, which makes designing and prototyping with the MAX3841 device easier. In addition, the kit comes with many other useful tools, such as a pre-programmed 16-bit microcontroller, an EZLink interface adapter, and debugger cables.
The MAX3841EVKIT operates with a variety of data rates and signal parameters. It supports a wide range of speeds, from 166Kbps to 5.8Mbps, and its operational signal integrity is >350mV for a rise/fall time of 10nS. The MAX3841 device supports levels of optoelectronic transceiver technologies, such as Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, Serial Attached SCSI (SAS), and Serial ATA (SATA). The evaluation board is also capable of switching signals between multiple data channels, such as video, audio, and false-color data streams.
The MAX3841EVKIT also offers power-saving features. It includes a power-management circuit that works with a wide selection of external components for low-power consumption. The evaluation board is designed for use with Maxim\'s patented ultra-low-power (ULP) technology, which enables the board to enter power-saving mode while performing selected tasks.
In addition, the MAX3841EVKIT is designed to support optional BSDL (Basic Software Defined Language) language modules. The board and its associated drivers support a variety of languages, such as C++, Java, JSP, Python, PHP, and Ruby.
