The MAX3872ETJ+ is a Clock/Timing – Application Specific designed to meet a variety of high-performance timing application requirements. The MAX3872ETJ+ is a member of the MAX3872ETJ family of programmable frequency synthesizers, which can be used to generate frequency-agile signals from a single reference input. The programmable frequency synthesizer consists of multiple delay and programmable-output multiphase PLLs, whose frequency and phase responses are programmable. In addition, an external trigger input offers the ability to change frequencies quickly in order to meet the requirements of high-speed, real-time control and imaging applications.
The MAX3872ETJ+ can generate multiple low-jitter, multiphase clocks from a single reference input, allowing the user to customize the multi-phase clock outputs to meet specific application requirements. The MAX3872ETJ+ also features an on-board programmable frequency synthesizer, which is capable of outputting frequency-agile signals over a wide range of frequencies.
The MAX3872ETJ+ uses a Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) to generate a variable frequency or phase output. The output of the VCO is programmed by the user through an on-board programmable memory, which can be programmed via a serial interface. The output of the VCO is then fed through a programmable loop filter to the phase programmable outputs. The programmable loop filter is used to modulate the frequency output such that it can be tuned for different applications. The programmable loop filter also allows the user to adjust the phase response of the output for specific applications.
