MAX3880ECB+TD is an integrated serializer-deserializer (SerDes) that supports high speed data transmission up to 12.5 Gbps. It is a single-chip solution for short-distance communications, suitable for high-speed data transmission applications such as 10 Gigabit Ethernet and fibre channel.MAX3880ECB+TD is a highly integrated product which can serialize and deserialize the 10 Gigabit serial data. The device consists of a high-speed, low-jitter, differential clock and data recovery (CDR) circuit, a high-speed scrambling/unscrambling and line coding/decoding block, a 10-bit/8-bit select code conversion and word alignment block, a 100/155 Mbps encoding and decoding block and a parallel/serial converter block. The device also has a built-in automatic gain control (AGC) loop for signal equalization, a data latency and line equalization block for remotely controlled fast switching or remote device ID settings, and a lineloss detection feature for easy system debugging. The device provides a low power and low noise operation with support for a wide range of data rates.MAX3880ECB+TD is well suited for applications that require high-speed data transmission over short distances. These include 10 Gigabit Ethernet and fibre channel applications, as well as high-speed data links in medical imaging, radar, military/aerospace, telecommunications, broadcast, and industrial automation systems.The MAX3880ECB+TD SerDes consists of four main components.The first component is a high-speed, differential clock and data recovery (CDR) circuit. This circuit receives a differential clock signal, converts it to a single ended signal, and then recovers the clock out of the received data stream. It is designed to support data rates up to 12.5 Gbps.The second component is a high speed scrambling/unscrambling and line coding/decoding block. This block scrambles the incoming data, converts it from its original form to a different line coding type, and then descrambles it for transmission. It is designed to support data rates up to 12.5 Gbps.The third component is a 10 bit/8 bit select code conversion and word alignment block. This block converts the parallel 10-bit encoded data into an 8-bit encoded data stream for transmission. It also performs word alignment of the data stream for transmission.The fourth component is a100/155 Mbps encoding and decoding block. This block encodes/decodes data from the 100/155 Mbps signal for transmission. It supports data rates up to 12.5 Gbps.The fifth and final component is a parallel/serial converter block. This block performs the parallel to serial conversion of the data stream for transmission.
