The MAX3882AETX+ is a Serializer/Deserializer (SerDes) transmitter able to deliver high-speed differential data streams at rates up to 6.25 Gbps. It is an ideal solution as a low-power, low-noise, quad-port medium reach SerDes compatible with IEEE 802.3 z 10GBASE-ER/EW Ethernet. The device consists of two independent channels, each operating up to 6.25 Gbps, a spread spectrum clock generator, a low-jitter PLL based reference clock input and a very low-noise clock output. Each channel contains a SerDes, a low-power PLL, and a differential line driver. The channels are designed to operate autonomously and the PLLs and SerDes can be configured independently with different bit rates and operating modes.
The SerDes uses a dual-loop equalization architecture that simplifies operation and maximizes reach. It combines high precision adaptive pre-emphasis and automatic equalization to achieve superior margins over a wide range of cable, connector, and emission/susceptibility and process variations. In addition, the MAX3882AETX+ includes an on-chip power detector for optical power monitoring. All the reference and data inputs and outputs are LVDS compatible.
The MAX3882AETX+ is designed to simplify system design and reduce power consumption by providing optimal performance. It supports both industry standard IEEE802.3z 10GBASE-ER/EW and proprietary 13-bit/16-bit Ethernet applications. The device is optimized to provide superior jitter performance, low power dissipation, and low EMI/RFI noise. For operations, the device supports a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and is available in a 68-pin TQFP package.
The MAX3882AETX+ is an ideal solution for 10GBASE-ER/EW 10-Gigabit Ethernet applications and can support up to 16 bits per symbol for legacy Ethernet applications. It is capable of transmitting data at rates of up to 6.25 Gbps with low power consumption and low EMI/RFI noise. Its spread spectrum clock generator simplifies system design and reduces jitter performance, while its adaptive on-chip equalization improves margins over a wide range of cable and connector variations. Furthermore, the device provides an on-chip power detector for optical power monitoring and is available in a 68-pin TQFP package for powering and low-noise clock output. The MAX3882AETX+ is suitable for use in high speed Ethernet applications such as enterprise and data center switches, routers, optical transceivers, backplanes, cables, and repeaters.
