MAX3981UTH+ is an integrated logic interface that supports ultra-fast optical transceivers. It connects the host system with a fiber-optic communication link using a multimode fiber. It provides a low power, low jitter, low latency, and low cost connection which is suitable for any type of application. With high speed, low latency and integration features, this product is ideal for many applications, such as data center, fixed telecom, high-speed wireless, HD video, and medical imaging.
The MAX3981UTH+ provides a low power, low jitter, and low latency optical link, and is primarily designed for short wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM). It can be used for multiple wavelengths, or within one wavelength, for connecting switch or port nodes. The MAX3981UTH+ can be used for both Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and 10GbE traffic and is compatible with both multimode and single mode fibers. The MAX3981UTH+ is also perfect for bridging distances up to 10 meters in multimode fibers and up to 80 kilometers in single mode fibers.
The MAX3981UTH+ application field includes data centers, optical switches, high-speed wireless services, HD video and medical imaging, and other high data rate applications. The device can be programmed to support up to 10 Gbits/second data rate over multimode or 50+ Gbits/second over single mode fibers. It also supports up to 8 lanes of parallel communications and has integrated 3.3V/5V differential signaling with low jitter outputs. In addition, the device can also support multiplexed and discriminated data-eye monitoring for connection Confidence and DWDM applications.
As for the working principle of the MAX3981UTH+, it is mainly divided into the two parts: an integrated low-power laser driver and an integrated laser receiver. The laser driver supports multiplexed signaling of protocols, like Fibre Channel, Ethernet, SONET, and OCT. The laser driver also supports up to 2 fiber cores and compensates for fiber cable length. The laser receiver provides sensitivity down to around -25 dBm and also an extended bit rate up to 16 Gb/s for long-distance communications.
