The MAX818LESA+ supervisor IC provides precise voltage detection and can monitor several power supply signals such as 2.9V, 3.2V, 3.3V, 3.4V and 3.6V. It also provides configurable active-low reset (or POK) signals for the power supplies thereby notifying the system of the voltage shifts. The POK output has an adjustable threshold configurable from 1.5V to 3.6V.
The working principle of the MAX818LESA+ is based on the use of a voltage threshold, which compares the monitored input voltage against a reference voltage, chosen from one of five available levels (2.9V, 3.2V, 3.3V, 3.4V and 3.6V). When the monitored voltage is higher than the reference voltage, the output signal will be high, while it will be low when the monitored signal is lower than the reference level. The MAX818LESA+ also provides a configurable power-on sequence control. This feature helps presetting the voltage levels in the system and giving accurate warning if the power supply dips below the established levels.
The MAX818LESA+ IC is specifically designed to monitor the power supply voltages, enabling early warning when the power levels change. It can detect critical power-supply failures such as supply dropouts, dips scenarios andovervoltage. It can also monitor the voltage levels once to prevent over-voltage scenarios and ensure that the voltage levels are within a safe margin for the system. The MAX818LESA+ can also detect power sequencing scenarios such as sequencing the power from one voltage to another, or from off to on, thereby informing the system of the power supply conditions.
