With its ultra-low power operation and low quiescent current, the MAX8559ETAO1+T is optimized for those applications that require minimum current consumption and maximum operating time from the battery. ## Key Features The MAX8559ETAO1+T features a wide input voltage range from 0.8V to 4.5V and an output voltage from 0.8V to 5V. It offers very low quiescent current in light-load conditions as well as low-dropout voltage (typically 80mV at 2mA). Compared to many other low-dropout linear regulators, the MAX8559ETAO1+T achieves a very low quiescent current (typically 500nA) with the ability to provide a greater than 100mA minimum output current. This configuration allows the voltage on the FB pin to be set accurately to 0.8V, 2.5V, or 4.1V (depending on the application).The output voltage is regulated by an error amplifier with a high-gain PNP feedback, which detects the difference between the output voltage and the reference voltage, and then adjusts the PMOS transistor gate voltage drive to maintain the output voltage.The error amplifier compensates internally the output voltage for changes in load current, temperature and input voltage, to keep the output voltage regulated within 1%. The duty-cycle control loop keeps the output voltage current constant for varying input voltages and load currents.The PMOS transistor is protected by a current limit circuit to protect the device from overload.
