?MAX8878EUK18+T Application Field and Working PrincipleLinear voltage regulators are used to regulate the voltage output of power supplies, particularly those with switching topology, and preventing them from varying with load changes. The MAX8878EUK18+T is a high-performance, low-noise regulator with low quiescent current, suitable for powering data converters, portable electronic products, and desktop/laptop computers.The MAX8878EUK18+T is a low-dropout (LDO) linear voltage regulator comprised of a single active device integrated with a current-sense resistor. The regulator features an adjustable voltage output, low output voltage ripple and noise, fast turn-on and high output-current capability. The output voltage can be programmed from 1.2V to 2.6V with a single external resistor. The device is designed to provide a clean, stable voltage output for applications that require the highest quality power supply.The MAX8878EUK18+T operates by comparing the voltage at the output pin to a reference voltage. When the load current increases, the voltage at the output pin falls. The internal error amplifier responds by increasing the duty cycle of the output switch so that the output voltage is maintained at a constant level. Output voltage ripple and noise is reduced by the internal current sense circuit, which provides the LDO with feedback and enables the adaptability of the output voltage without the need for an additional voltage reference.The MAX8878EUK18+T is capable of providing up to 1.1A of continuous output current in a SOT23-5 package with an operating temperature range from –40°C to +125°C. The device features an adjustable, low-noise step-down converter, with an operating input voltage range of 2.3V to 6V. The output voltage range is programmable from 1.2V to 2.6V and is capable of delivering up to 1.1A of continuous output current. In addition, the MAX8878EUK18+T is designed for operation in the space-constrained consumer and industrial markets and is suitable for portable products that use a 1.2V core voltage. The MAX8878EUK18+T is a high-accuracy, low-noise and low-dropout regulator capable of providing high output current with excellent load-regulation accuracy and low noise performance. The device is designed to provide high-quality power supplies for demanding applications such as data conversion, telecommunications and portable electronics. The device is also capable of providing high current output with fast transient response and excellent ripple rejection.
