MCP19119T-E/MQVAO is a high-efficiency, high-speed, multi-mode DC to DC synchronous buck controller. It offers the excellent combination of functional integration and flexibility to give your engineers the design margin for challenging applications. The application range covers from 0.6V to 5.5V output voltage in both step-down and step-up topology. And it also delivers high current levels up to 8A at a maximum frequency of 2.5 MHz. This permits the design of ultra-compact SMPS with good efficiency.
MCP19119T-E/MQVAO Application Field
The MCP19119T-E/MQVAO is designed for a wide range of demanding applications such as mobile phones, tablet PCs, medical and industrial systems. The major specifications cover 5.5V input voltage range, 0.6V to 5.5V output voltage range with up to 8A current level in both step-down and step-up modes. Following the MCP19119T-E/MQVAO features:

The MCP19119T-E/MQVAO provides voltage-mode control. It contains a power stage, logic and internal compensation elements to minimize external components. An internal 50mΩ P-Channel FET makes possible to switch at up to 2.5MHz, permitting use of an external inductor as small as 1.5μH in a 4mm x 4mm x 0.9mm, 14 feet LPCC package. The internal compensation circuitry provides the right stability loop response, minimizing the number of external components required. It also features a built-in Spread Spectrum Frequency Modulation (SSFM) which enables stable operating condition while reducing EMI, allowing developers to use the old board without needing to lay a new power supply design.
MCP19119T-E/MQVAO Working Principle
MCP19119T-E/MQVAO provides multiple topologies for different applications, the step-down and step-up DC-DC converter. In the step-down topology, the switch current flows into the inductor and Cin, stepped down and filtered by the inductor, safely charges the output capacitor through the dynamic resistor Cout, and this output voltage is connected to a load. In the step-up topology, the switch current flows into Cout, and serves as the input to the L+PLL composite filter, and the filter output voltage is then provided to the load. The MCP19119T-E/MQVAO works with high efficiency, thanks to its advanced integrated circuit design.
The MCP19119T-E/MQVAO is highly integrated, providing both high efficiency and good stability. It contains a Pulse-Width-Modulator (PWM) and Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) to provide the reference voltage and generate a signal to control the internal switching device. The external current-sense component is used to feedback the current flow in the switching device and is compared with the internal current-sense signal by the internal comparator. The error signal is transferred to the PWM and DAC, complete the feedback loop. Besides this, the device also contains a range of protection features to protect the load during alignment and/or overload.
To conclude, the MCP19119T-E/MQVAO provides a high-efficiency, high-speed, and flexible solution for DC to DC synchronous buck controller applications, from 0.6V to 5.5V output voltage in both step-down and step-up topology.
