The MCP79400T-I/ST clock/timing real-time clock is an Automotive Grade, AEC-Q100 Qualified integrated circuit designed for a variety of time keeping applications. This product combines a very low power Real-Time Clock (RTC) with a high accuracy crystal oscillator, in a small package, to offer a high performance, low power Timing solution. This product offers versatile integration with the PrimeTime™ Timing Family of Automotive Grade components, enabling customers to easily and cost-effectively add a well-defined timing hierarchy to their products.
MCP79400T-I/ST clock/timing real-time clocks are designed to operate in applications that require ultra-low power consumption and high accuracy timing solutions. Applications include car navigation systems, infotainment systems, body controllers, and energy management systems. The MCP79400T-I/ST offers an advanced power management system, a long-lasting battery backup, and an advanced crystal oscillator (XO) to ensure accurate timing even in automotive grade applications.
The MCP79400T-I/ST has two main components – the Real-Time Clock (RTC) and a crystal oscillator. The RTC is responsible for keeping accurate time while the XO is used to ensure a highly accurate timekeeping system with drift times as low as 1 ppm. The RTC is powered by an integrated ultra-low power battery backup, allowing for up to 10 years of time keeping accuracy with no external power source. The XO is used to calibrate the RTC, offering a high accuracy time keeping solution.
