The MCP73833T-BZI/UN is a Li-Ion/Li-Po (Lithium Ion/Lithium Polymer) battery charger, which uses a buck-boost topology to provide flexibility in input voltage and current as well as b oost-mode charging.The MCP73833T-BZI/UN is a fully integrated, single-cell Li-Ion/Li-Po battery charger controller with built-in thermal regulation, providing programmable charge current up to a maximum of 500mA with an accuracy of ±10%. The input voltage range of 2.4V to 6V allows for a wide range of sources, including super-capacitors or solar panels. The charge voltage is regulated to 4.2V ±2% for single-cell Lithium Ion batteries, and 4.1V to 4.3V for the two-cell configurations.The MCP73833T-BZI/UN is designed with features to ensure a safe and reliable operation. The device features two separate output select pins, allowing the user to choose between charge current or charge voltage as the controlling parameter. The termination input pin is used to detect the end of charge, allowing a user adjustable termination voltage and current setting.The integrated dynamic PowerPath™ Manager feature seamlessly transfers control from the input power source to the battery during discharge. This helps to minimize discharge of the battery when the input power source is disconnected, thus protecting the battery during periods of power loss or low power.The MCP73833T-BZI/UN is designed with a low quiescent current mode. This allows the charger to stay in a low Iq standby mode for extended periods of time.
