Introduction
The MIC1232MY-TR is a 3.3V/5V power supervisor integrated circuit (IC) designed to monitor an overall system condition. The sophisticated algorithms within the IC monitor several of the critical system power and input voltage parameters. A reset signal is generated when the chip detects any of these monitored parameters as out of its operating/safety range. The reset output may be either of two active-low open-drain gpio, or a watchdog reset output.Application Fields

The MIC1232MY-TR is designed to monitor and lockup during unexpected power conditions. The IC contains a single channel voltage monitor, and a single-ended power-on reset generator. The voltage monitor is designed to detect and report any undervoltage, overvoltage, and brownout conditions due to supply power transients. The power-on reset generator generates a reset signal if it senses any variation in the allowable voltage range.The voltage monitor contains an internal voltage detector, a comparator and a latch. The voltage detector computes the supplied voltage and compares it with the predefined values for the upper and lower threshold. When the supplied voltage exceeds or falls below the threshold, it is detected by the comparator. The latch stores the result, and if the voltage is out of range, it latches the signal, initiating the reset function.The reset function is initiated by the power-on reset generator circuit which consists of a resistor-capacitor (RC) network and a flip flop. The RC network acts as a timer to allow the power supply to stabilize before resetting. When the timer is reached, the reset signal is generated by the flip flop.Conclusion
