Modern electronic devices have many different functions and feature sets, all of which typically require a mix of voltage rails and power sources to support their operation. As such, it is important to ensure that electronic devices are supplied with the correct and stable voltage levels, as well as to protect them from poor or unstable power supply and from potential faults or unexpected power outages. This is where PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuits) Supervisors come in. PMIC supervisors are special power management integrated circuits designed to supply a stable voltage rail to the system and to provide protection against the threat of excessive current, overvoltage, undervoltage, and temperature. The MIC706RM-TR’s primary function is to monitor and protect the VDD and VBAT voltage rails. It monitors the voltage levels of the power rails and then provides an interrupt signal to alert the system in case of an abnormal voltage level, or an over-temperature condition.
