MMA1210EGR2 Application Field and Working PrincipleThe MMA1210EGR2 Series is a type of Motion Sensors – Accelerometers that is specifically designed for inertial navigation and measuring dynamic acceleration. It uses a solid state probe to measure the acceleration, motion, shock, and vibration of an electronic system or object and then translates it into a measurable voltage. The MMA1210EGR2 is most often used in the aerospace industry for navigation and payload guidance to help keep aircraft flying accurately and safely.The MMA1210EGR2 is an extremely accurate device that can measure accelerations in three dimensions (X, Y and Z-axes). It uses a sensing element comprised of small piezoelectric transducers with very thin membranes which are sensitive to small movements. The transducers convert mechanical information (acceleration, motion, shock, and vibration) into electrical signals of varying voltages, which are then amplified and converted into a usable form. The amplifier takes the signal from the sensing element and amplifies it to a voltage level that is proportional to the acceleration applied.The MMA1210EGR2 works by using accelerometers to measure acceleration in three dimensions. It is a little like an airbag system in a car. Accelerometers measure the change in velocity over time, so they can tell when an object is being moved or accelerated. They can also detect forces of gravity and changes in direction.A 3-axis device such as the MMA1210EGR2 operates in a different way than a 2-axis accelerometer. The 3-axis accelerometer gives an information output for each of the X, Y and Z axes of motion.
